Factfinding mission opportunities GEOdata and Agricultural Development in Angola

Project purpose

  1. Supporting the Angolan authorities in their need to accelerate the development of the agricultural sector via satellite information services. Satellite information is seen as an important tool in this process by the Angolan authorities.
  2. Support and profiling of the Dutch value adding  (Satellite information) sector in their need to further expand their business in Africa. The ultimate goal is to improve the output of the agricultural  sector by providing food producers with relevant, specific and timely information. This will lead to improved sustainable food production and/or improved efficiency in the use of inputs for food production.

Project results

Result 1. Identification of a possible capacity building project and cooperation between the Angolan Ministry of Agriculture (and other relevant stakeholders) and the Netherlands Space Office that may result (if appropriate) in a proposal for a cooperation / capacity building program (G2G funded by PSD Apps) with realistic measurable results within a realistic timeframe.

The proposed fact-finding mission should result in:

  • A fact finding mission report.
  • Specific (G2G) results to be established when the scope of the G2G project is established (knowledge exchange, capacity building and “work on the job”).

Result 2. A Dutch expert will represent the Dutch value adding  (geo-data) sector during the agricultural mission to Angola 29 May -6 June (LED15LUA01). This mission offers unique opportunities to support and profiling of the Dutch sector in their need to further expand their (agro-related) business in Africa.

The representation should result in:

  • Concrete exchanges with the different Angolan agricultural initiatives with the possible output of cooperation opportunities between these Angolan initiatives and the Dutch value adding  (geo-data) sector. Concrete exchanges with the Dutch agricultural companies with the possible output of cooperation opportunities with the Dutch value adding  (geo-data) sector in Angola and beyond
