The government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and a group of 11 companies representing the Dutch fruit sector have developed a public private partnership Netherlands Soft-Fruit Solutions (NSFS), to assist in developing an efficient, sustainable soft fruit chain in Serbia. This all fitting in the 3 year program called Partners International Business. The Dutch soft fruit sector is a front runner in the world, applying the most modern techniques in a sustainable way. The open, transparent cooperation between Knowledge Institutes – Government – Private Businesses is a key to success. This so called “Golden Triangle” results in applying the latest varieties, state of the art growing techniques, innovative harvest and post-harvest handling of soft-fruit world. Netherlands Soft-Fruit Solutions will facilitate the transfer and adaption of tailor-made and chain-wide solutions to improve productivity, food safety and quality of fruit production in Serbia. This will be supported by the setting up of 3 Dutch demonstration pilots in 3 major production and micro climates with intensive orchards, and state of the art technology. NSFS aims at concluding cooperation agreements with relevant knowledge centers in the fruit sector in Serbia, like the Fruit Research Institute in Cacak, the Faculty of Agriculture of University of Novi Sad, the Faculty of Agriculture of University of Belgrade, and the Biosense Institute in Novi Sad. Within the context of the Golden Triangle, focus will be on cooperation with growers in Arilje (raspberry), Macva (blue berry, strawberry, black currant) and Kosmai (all berries including red berry).
