Project activities

Suggested program for 2-3 days in Zanzibar

This programme will be further detailed in close consultation with the Netherlands Embassy and the relevant parties in Zanzibar

  • Meetings/discussion with relevant key persons Ministry of  Environment (First VP’s Office), but perhaps also Ministry of Energy; Zanzibar Water Authority and the Ministry of Infrastructure; the Ministry of Agriculture (department of environment) and the Environment Task Force. Introduction on NCEA: Its role in the Netherlands and abroad.
  • Presentations of EIA/SEA case studies from the Netherlands and from e.g. Ghana/Uganda on EIA/SEA for ports/harbours and oil and gas development
  • Presentation on examples of multi-annual cooperation programs on improving/strengthening EIA/SEA systems in NCEA partner countries
  • Presentation about NCEA approach/practical way of working in EIA/SEA strengthening
  • Quick scan/preliminary needs assessment to determine kind of support needed in Zanzibar  (if possible in workshop setting)

 

In addition, possibly the mission will include a trip to mainland for:

A meeting with NEMC in Dar es Salaam and e.g. Eastern African Association for Impact Assessment.
